Profitable Fun For All Who Come
Fun was an important part of the early Fair atmosphere, packaged in exhibits, activities, and entertainment. In addition to the competitive judging of live-stock, sewing, canned and baked goods, there were horse and mule shows; horse, dairy cow, and auto races; sacred concerts; and political addresses. The Midway attractions usually came as a package, and promised a variety of “clean, wholesome fun for the whole family." Premium lists were distributed well ahead of time, advertising not only that year's prizes, but the acts that would be appearing at the Fair and the special days devoted to governors, associations, and cities.
