Equipment and Accessories
The audiobooks loaned free by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, are available on digital talking-book cartridges. The digital talking-book players are on loan to a patron as long as they are using the service.
If your playback machine breaks, call, mail or e-mail Wolfner Library to request a replacement.
Accessories
Headphones
Headphones fit over regular hearing aids for private listening, especially where others may be bothered, such as nursing homes. For patrons who are confined to bed or who have manual dexterity issues.
Remote Control
For patrons who are confined to bed or who have manual dexterity issues, or want to add functions to their player such as controlling speech playback speed or creating bookmarks
High-Volume Player with Headphones
For patrons with a significant hearing loss that requires a separate application with medical certification
Digital Talking-Book Cartridge Cable
Three-foot cable with a standard USB Type-A plug on one end and a USB Type-A socket and plastic molding that conforms to the shape of the cartridge on the other, connecting a digital talking-book cartridge to a universal serial bus port (USBP) on a personal computer to download books from Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD)
Right-Angle USB Flash-Drive
An AT-port adapter allows you to connect your USB flash drive to the USB adapter of a computer to load books onto your cartridge from the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website.
USB Breath Switch
For patrons with little or no use of their extremities
Machines and accessories can be mailed under "Free Matter" mailing privileges. Do not pay postage to return or exchange equipment.
