Eligibility Information

We provide library services to children and teens who cannot use standard print material due to:

  • Visual disability
  • Physical disability
  • Reading disability

To learn more about who is eligible, visit the National Library Services (NLS) Eligibility page

To learn more about services for people with reading disabilities, visit the Talking Books and Reading Disabilities page provided by the NLS.

Please note this important change:  The NLS longer no requires a doctor’s signature on applications for patrons with reading disabilities.  School professionals, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, and nurses are also considered qualified to serve as a certifying authority on individual applications.

Materials Available

  • Audio books and magazines
  • Braille books and magazines (contracted, uncontracted, and print/Braille)
  • Large print books
  • Descriptive DVDs
  • Print/Braille games
  • STEM Kits

***Wolfner Library does not provide access to textbooks in any format.***

Some audio and Braille titles may also be available online through the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website and mobile app.  If you are interested in using BARD, please contact the Youth Services Specialist.

Please note: When a school orders items from Wolfner Library, they are checked out to the school, not the students. Wolfner Library recommends that you not let students take home books lent to the school. Each student can have equipment at home through his or her individual account. In addition, if students use the BARD Mobile app on a school device, they should use the school’s BARD account, not their own. Conversely, if students use their own tablets, they should access their own BARD account.

Order library materials through the WolfPAC (must have Patron ID and passcode)

Youth Programs

Much like a local public library does, the Wolfner Library offers a number of activities and resources for young patrons.  We offer an Early Literacy program, Summer Reading program, stories, and crafts--all to promote a love of reading.  Please hop over to the Programs and Events page to learn more!
