John B. Breeden, CRM, is the Agency Records Manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation. Mr. Breeden has 26 years of records and document management experience. Since 2002, he has served on the United States delegation to the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Advisory Group (TAG 171) Committee for Document Imaging Applications, representing the United States in Paris and New Orleans.
Mr. Breeden received his MPA from VCU in 1989 and is a Certified Records Manager. He has made over 40 presentations to a variety of organizations, including Federal Imaging in Washington, DC, the Philadelphia ARMA/AIIM chapters, and presentations to the 1st, 4th, and 14th Annual Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Archives and Records Management Seminars. In 2005, Mr. Breeden was elected into the select Company of Fellows of AIIM in recognition to his outstanding contributions to the Enterprise Content Management industry.
Charles M. Dollar is an internationally recognized expert on the life cycle management of electronic records, particularly electronic records archiving. His experience includes: twenty years of working with electronic records at the National Archives and Records Administration; archival educator at the University of British Columbia; a consultant to governments and businesses in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East; and the author of more than twenty publications and reports on life cycle electronic records management issues.
While he was on the staff of the National Archives, Dollar organized and directed the first electronic records program for the U.S. government. He subsequently played a major role in research projects on digital technology standards, storage media, and imaging applications in electronic archiving. In 1994 Dollar joined the graduate faculty of the School of Library, Information, and Archival Studies at the University of British Columbia, where he taught in the Archival Studies Program. He joined Cohasset Associates of Chicago as a Senior Consultant in 1999.
Dollar is the author of numerous articles for the American Archivist, Archarvaria, Archivum,Estudos Historicos, and the Journal of Information Management. His most recent book, Authentic Electronic Records: Long-Term Access Strategies, heralded as a "superior monograph on archival theory and practice“ received the Waldo Gifford Leland award from the Society of American Archivists in 2000.
Dollar, who holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Kentucky, is a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists and currently serves as Chair of the Association of Information Management Standards Board (AIIM). In 2005, he was awarded the Emmett Leahy Award by the Institute of Certified Records Managers for outstanding contributions to the records and information management profession.
Virginia A Jones, CRM, is currently the Records Manager for Newport News, VA Dept. of Public Utilities. Her background includes hands-on operations, management, consulting, writing, teaching and training experience for over 35 years in the records and information management field. For over 20 years, she has also been principal of VAJones Associates, a records and information management consulting and training firm.
Jones serves on the AIIM International Standards Board and is a member of several AIIM standards committees. She recently served as project leader of the ARMA International task force developing the new ANSI standard Vital Records: Identifying, Managing, and Recovering Business-Critical Records.
The author of the Handbook of Microfilm Technology & Procedures and co-author of Emergency Management for Records and Information Programs and The Information Manager's Toolkit, Jones also contributes articles on records and information management and micrographics issues to national trade publications. As an active member of AIIM and ARMA International she has presented several papers at the national conferences for both associations.
A recipient of the Master of Information Technologies (MIT) and the MIT Micrographics Laureate from AIIM International, Jones is a member and serves on the Board of Regents of the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM). At the 2005 ARMA International conference in Chicago, Jones was inducted into the ARMA Company of Fellows in recognition of her lifetime contributions to the records and information management profession.
