Department of Labor & Industrial Relations
The Department of Labor & Industrial Relations was established by the 1974 State Reorganization Act. Many divisions of the agency originated in the early twentieth century. The department is responsible for administering workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, labor mediation, wage regulation, and other programs, including discrimination in public accommodations and in access for persons with disabilities. Obtaining individual economic stability and advancement for the state's citizens is the primary goal of the Department of Labor & Industrial Relations.
