EXECUTIVE ORDER
94-33
WHEREAS, I have been advised by the State Director, Emergency Management Agency, Office of Adjutant General, that a natural disaster of major proportions has occurred in the Northern Missouri Counties affected by severe icy conditions; and
WHEREAS, damage to and loss of property and interruption of public services occurred as a result of the severe weather and icy conditions on December 6 and 7, 1994; and
WHEREAS, protection of the safety and welfare of the people of Missouri and their property required an invocation of the provisions of Section 44.100, RSMo 1986;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mel Carnahan, Governor of the State of Missouri, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 44.100, RSMo 1986, do hereby declare that a State of Emergency exists in the State of Missouri. The aforementioned counties are hereby declared to be disaster areas, and I do hereby direct the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan be activated. I further authorize the use of selected state agencies to provide support to the affected counties.
FURTHERMORE, I do specifically authorize and order the Directors of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department and the Department of Corrections to provide equipment and personnel to support the clearing of streets and critical debris removal necessary for insuring public safety for the local governments as may be deemed appropriate under the circumstances during the period in which this order is effective.
This order shall terminate on January 1, 1995, unless extended in whole or in part.
