EXECUTIVE ORDER
93-02
WHEREAS, to prosper in the global economy of the 1990's and beyond, the State of Missouri must fundamentally change its approach to economic development; and
WHEREAS, Missouri currently has no written comprehensive economic development plan; and
WHEREAS, there is need for comprehensive economic development planning to provide strategies for job creation in all parts of Missouri,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mel Carnahan, Governor of the State of Missouri, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri, hereby create and establish the Missouri Business Council.
The Missouri Business Council, whose members will be appointed by the Governor, shall be comprised of persons from throughout the state who have experience and expertise in the creation of jobs and the growth of businesses.
The Missouri Business Council is assigned to the Office of the Governor, for administrative purposes. The Council shall be chaired by a person appointed by the Governor.
The Council will advise the Governor and shall be responsible for devising a Strategic Economic Development Plan for Missouri by December 15, 1993.
Members of the Council shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for travel and lodging expenses, to the extent that funds are available for such purposes.
