EXECUTIVE ORDER
83-10

WHEREAS, I have been advised by the State Director, State Emergency Management Agency, Office of the Adjutant General, that a natural disaster of major proportions has occurred in the counties of Missouri south of the Missouri River; that loss of life, injury to persons and damage to and loss of property has occurred as the result of widespread tornadoes preceded and followed by heavy rainfall and severe flooding from April 27, 1983, to the present and that tornadic activity was exceptionally severe during the evening hours of April 29, 1983, in Greene County, Missouri, along a line from Republic, Missouri through Springfield, Missouri; and that the safety and welfare of the inhabitants of all Missouri counties south of the Missouri River require an invocation of the provisions of Section 44.100, RSMo 1978;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHRISTOPHER S. BOND, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of authority vested in me by Section 44.100, RSMo 1978, do hereby declare that a state of emergency exists in the counties of Missouri south of the Missouri River, and that these counties are hereby declared to be a disaster area; and I do hereby authorize the approved Missouri Comprehensive Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Plan be activated and do further authorize the use of such agencies, personnel and equipment of the State as may be necessary for the preservation of life, property and the restoration of public facilities in those counties.

Furthermore, I do specifically authorize and order the Adjutant General, the Directors of the Departments of Public Safety, Natural Resources, Highway and Transportation, Conservation, and Social Services, or their designees to utilize the personnel and equipment of their respective agencies in support of local government as may be deemed appropriate under the circumstances during the period in which this order is effective.

This order shall terminate on July 5, 1983, unless extended in whole or in part.
