EXECUTIVE ORDER
82-1
WHEREAS, an abnormal amount of snow in the St. Louis, Missouri area blocked streets, highways and halted emergency vehicles and other necessities in the area; and
WHEREAS, such snow accumulation has created conditions of distress and hazard to life, safety, health, and property, both public and private, and is now beyond the capabilities of local and other established agencies necessitating, therefore, the provisions of providing for local emergency relief to distressed areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH J. ROTHMAN, LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI and Commander in Chief of the militia of this State, in the absence of the Governor, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 41.480, RSMo 1978, do declare that an emergency does exist in Missouri; and I order and direct the Adjutant General of this State or portions of the organized militia as he deems necessary to aid the executive officials of St. Louis, Missouri, and adjacent and surrounding counties and cities in removing snow, clearing emergency routes, and providing emergency services. It is further ordered and directed that the Adjutant General or his designee, and through him the commanding officer of any unit or other organization of such organized militia so called into active service, to take such action and employ such equipment as may be necessary in support of civilian authorities, and to provide such other assistance as may be authorized and directed.
This order is effective immediately.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and cause to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, this, 1st day of February, 1982.
