EXECUTIVE ORDER
80-13
WHEREAS, an abnormal amount of snow in Springfield, Missouri, Greene and surrounding counties has blocked streets, highways, and halted emergency vehicles and other necessities in the area; and
WHEREAS, such snow accumulation has created conditions of distress and hazard to life, safety, health and property, both public and private and now may be, in some instances, beyond the capabilities of local and other established agencies necessitating, therefore, the provisions of providing for local emergency relief to distressed areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH P. TEASDALE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI and Commander in Chief of the militia of this State by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 41.480, RSMo 1978, due declare that an emergency does exist in Missouri; and I order and direct the Adjutant General of this State or his designee to forthwith call and order into active service such portions of the organized militia as he deems necessary to aid the executive officials of Missouri and municipalities located therein, to assist local civil authorities in saving lives; and it is further ordered and directed that the Adjutant General or his designee, and through him the commanding officer of any unit or other organization of such organized militia so called into active service, to take such action and employ such equipment as may be necessary in support of civilian authorities, and to provide such other assistance as may be authorized and directed by the Governor of this State.
This order is effective immediately.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and cause to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, this 8th day of February, 1980.
