Public Aid for Religious Purposes Initiative

 

THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT

Submitting to the qualified voters of Missouri, an amendment repealing section 7 of article I of the Constitution of Missouri, and adopting one new section in lieu thereof relating to the distribution of state moneys.

Be it resolved by the people of Missouri that the Constitution be amended:

ARTICLE I - BILL OF RIGHTS

Section 7, Article I, Constitution of Missouri, is repealed and one new section adopted in lieu thereof, to be known as Section 7, to read as follows:

Section 7. [That no money shall ever be taken from the public treasury, directly or indirectly, in aid of any church, sect or denomination of religion, or in aid of any priest, preacher, minister or teacher thereof, as such; and] That no preference shall be given to nor any discrimination made against any church, sect or creed of religion, or any form of religious faith or worship.
