O'Donnell Appointed as Missouri Securities Commissioner
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Secretary of State Denny Hoskins announced the appointment of former State Representative Michael O'Donnell (R-Oakville) as Missouri's Commissioner of Securities.
O'Donnell, who represented the Oakville and Mehlville areas in the Missouri House since 2019, stepped down from his legislative duties on January 15th. In his new role, O'Donnell will oversee Missouri's Securities Division which is responsible for protecting investors and maintaining the integrity of the securities and investment industry in Missouri.
Secretary Hoskins cited O'Donnell's extensive background in both the private sector and public service as key factors in the appointment.
"Representative O'Donnell brings more than 30 years of financial services experience to this role, combined with his valuable service in the Navy and as Chairman of the House Financial Institutions Committee," Hoskins said. "His unique blend of private sector expertise, military and legislative experience make him the perfect fit to serve as our state's securities commissioner."
During his tenure in the House, O'Donnell served on various committees including the Budget Committee, passed legislation ending taxation of Social Security by the state, and was appointed to represent Missouri on the Southern States Energy Board.
"Serving the residents of South St. Louis County was one of the greatest honors of my life," O'Donnell said. "Now, I'm excited to put my experience to work protecting Missouri investors while ensuring our state maintains a robust and vibrant financial services industry. The Securities Division plays a crucial role in maintaining confidence in our markets and protecting Missourians' investments."
