Missouri’s Department of Economic Development has a well-documented photographic history. Its tourism branch began as the Commerce and Industrial Development (CID) Division, now the Division of Tourism. Over the years, Division staff photographed sites, people and events from around the state to promote Missouri tourism. The Archives maintains a very large photograph collection from both CID and Tourism.

  • Just over 12,000 images from the Division of Tourism (1967-2007) are available on our Missouri Digital Heritage website here
  • The CID images (1943-c1970) are indexed and digitized, but not available online.
  • There is significant overlap between CID and MS192 Gerald Massie Photograph Collection. This manuscript collection (1945-1974) is accessible on our Missouri Digital Heritage website here.

There are tens of thousands of additional Tourism photographs available in-house at the Archives.
