Record Group 000: General Assembly State Documents Collection, Missouri Negro Industrial Commission, First Annual Report (1919)
The Missouri Negro Industrial Commission was established February 12, 1918 and existed until 1928, when its creating law expired. Its goal was to improve the lives of African Americans in Missouri through education and employment. This "Statement from the Chairman" is from the Commission's first report to the General Assembly in 1919. It describes the results of the first year's work and areas in which the Commission expressed concern.
