Devil's Island Paintings

These 24 paintings of Francis Lagrange, a prisoner on the Devil's Island, depict life within the penal colony off the coast of French Guiana. Lagrange was held on Isle Royale for 20 years under charges of art forgery and currency counterfeiting.
