05-31

WHEREAS, Executive Order 94-08 was issued on January 28, 1994, establishing the Missouri Community Service Commission; and

WHEREAS, in 1994, the General Assembly passed House Bill 1471, which ratified the creation of the Missouri Community Service Commission and established it within the Office of the Governor, and provided that the Governor may, by Executive Order, assign the Commission to the office of any executive department or statewide elected official; and

However, in 1997, House Bill 7 of the 89th General Assembly placed the Missouri Community Service Commission under the Department of Economic Development's budget; and the Department of Economic Development assumed responsibility for the Commission from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor at that time; and

WHEREAS, the Governor and the Department of Economic Development have jointly agreed that the Department of Economic Development would be the most appropriate place for the Commission to reside.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Matt Blunt, Governor of the State of Missouri, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri, do hereby assign the Missouri Community Service Commission, with all of its powers, duties and responsibilities, to the Department of Economic Development of the State of Missouri.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, in the City of Jefferson, on this 14th day of September, 2005.
