EXECUTIVE ORDER
02-21

WHEREAS, the Missouri Domestic Violence Task Force, created by my executive order 01-13, has completed its task of conducting an inventory of state funding and resources currently dedicated to addressing domestic violence and investigating opportunities to enhance public and private resources for expanded community and statewide domestic violence prevention and intervention services; and

WHEREAS, the admirable and ground-breaking work done by the Task Force has, among other things, underscored the need for a continuing focus on the scourge of domestic violence, which continues to threaten the safety of citizens within the state of Missouri; and

WHEREAS, my executive departments should serve as examples by taking the lead in identifying how they each relate to victims of domestic violence in an effort to determine how they can maximize education about domestic violence and improve service delivery to victims of such violence; and

WHEREAS, one of the main findings of the Task Force is that each executive agency within the state government of Missouri should develop a strategic and integrated action plan to address domestic violence.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BOB HOLDEN, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Missouri, hereby extend the term of service for the members of the Missouri Domestic Violence Task Force indefinitely and reestablish the Task Force as follows. The Task Force shall continue to fulfill its original purposes as set out in Executive Order 01-13, and in addition, shall be responsible for coordinating the effort to identify how each executive agency in state government can maximize education about domestic violence, improve service delivery to victims of such violence, and take such other action as may be necessary with respect to domestic violence.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force is assigned for administrative purposes to the Department of Public Safety. All executive departments and agencies are directed to assist the Task Force in carrying out the purposes of this order.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall continue to consist of eleven (11) individuals appointed by the Governor, who shall serve without compensation, except that Task Force members may be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties for the Task Force.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force may continue to invite individuals representing local and federal agencies or private organizations and the general public to serve as ex-officio members.

Task Force members shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, in the City of Jefferson, on this 30th day of October, 2002.
