EXECUTIVE ORDER
95-12

WHEREAS, an unprecedented number of severe storms have caused widespread damage to property and caused flood conditions to exist throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, such conditions have created a condition of distress and hazard to life and property, nor recognized to be beyond the capabilities of some local and other established agencies, necessitating, therefore, the provision of emergency relief to the citizenry of the distressed area;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mel Carnahan, Governor of the State of Missouri, and the Commander-in-Chief of the militia of this State, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of this State and pursuant to Sections 41.480, Revised Statutes of Missouri, do hereby declare that an emergency exists in the State of Missouri, and I order and direct the Adjutant General of the State, or his designee, to forthwith call and order into active service such portions of the organized militia as he deems necessary to aid the executive officials of Missouri, to protect life and property, and it is through him the commanding officer of any unit or other organization of such organized militia so called into active service, to take such action and employ such equipment as maybe necessary in support of civilian authorities, and to provide such other assistance as my be authorized and directed by the Governor of this State.
