WHEREAS, I have been advised by the Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol that an interruption in natural gas service in Marion County, Missouri has created a condition of distress and hazard to the public health and safety, and
WHEREAS, the utility company must marshal its resources from a large geographic area within and without Missouri in order to restore service as soon as possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN ASHCROFT, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of Missouri, hereby declare that a state of emergency exists in Marion County, Missouri, and hereby order and direct that enforcement of state laws and regulations governing local vehicle licenses and out-of-state vehicle licenses is suspended temporarily in order that the utility may bring to bear on the emergency in Marion County all the resources at its disposal.
This Order is occasioned only by the emergency declared herein, and operates only as to those vehicles necessary to restore gas service in Marion County.
The Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are instructed to advise this office when gas service is restored, at which time this Executive Order shall terminate.
