Minimum Specifications for Computer Equipment
July 1, 2013–June 30, 2014
All computers and training lab servers purchased with LSTA grant funds must meet or exceed the following minimum specifications established by the Missouri Secretary of State's Office.
Special allowances may be made for higher specifications when purchasing special-use computers, such as patron business center equipment or gaming stations with their associated accessories.
Desktop PC:
The following specs do not apply to Thin Client installations, which are allowable
- 3.0 GHz Quad-Core Processor
- 4GB SDRAM Memory
- 500 GB Hard drive
- 21.5” Flat Panel Monitor
- 512 MB Graphics Card
- DVD RW drive
- LAN Networking Port and Wireless Capable
- 2 USB 3.0 Ports and/or 2 USB 2.0 Ports (4 Ports total)
Laptop PC:
- 2.6 GHz Dual-Core Processor
- 4 GB Memory
- 500 GB Hard drive
- CD-Rom/DVD-ROM drive
- 15.6” Display area
- LAN Networking Port and Wireless Capable
- 2 USB 2.0 Ports and/or 1 USB 3.0 Ports (3 Ports total)
Computer Lab Server (Tower or Rack):
The following specifications do not apply for library-wide support (enterprise) servers
- 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Processor
- 4 GB Memory
- 500 GB Hard drive—4 or more hard drives for RAID (RAID 5)
- 19 inch Monitor
- DVD-RW Drive
- Dual Power Supplies

*This is a minimum specification for computer labs only. Due to the variety of requirements for a specific library site server, the State Library does not provide minimum standards for a library site production servers.
