The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) works at the direction of the Chief Enforcement Counsel and the Securities Office Manager in keeping and tracking various records.
Job Functions and General Responsibilities:
The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) performs a variety of support tasks to aid the Enforcement Section in investigating and tracking complaints and cases. The principal duty of the Securities Specialist (Enforcement) is to review complaints, to track and assist with referrals made to, and received from, other agencies, to answer the Investor Protection Hotline, and to work with the Chief Enforcement Counsel to open and close investigations. The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) will also track the outcome of referrals to criminal prosecution agencies. Additionally, the Securities Specialist (Enforcement) will track and monitor order collections, track non-monetary relief, monitor the distribution of restitution, and process restitution payments through the SAM II system. Among other tasks, the Securities Specialist (Enforcement) will back-up the Securities front desk, answer the division line from time to time, be the principal securities personnel filling in at the SOS front desk, open mail, and archive investigation files. The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) may also be asked to fulfill other support tasks for the Enforcement Division.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) must be a thorough, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with attorneys and investigators in the Enforcement Section. He or she must be able to be proficient with SAM II, Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and be able to use database systems. The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) should have a basic understanding of accounting and finance and be able to communicate effectively while managing a complex filing and record system. The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) must be able to multi-task complete tasks under deadline pressure.
The Securities Specialist (Enforcement) should have an associate’s degree in Business or Public Administration or at least five years’ experience performing administrative and support functions for a government or regulatory office.
