| How to File: | By filing a written request to be included on the presidential preference primary along with (1) a receipt of payment of a filing fee to the state committee of the established political party on whose ballot the candidate wishes to appear or (2) a written statement and petition that meets the statutory requirements in lieu of the filing fee. Presidential candidate request forms are available from the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s office. |
| Random Drawing: | For those candidates filing before 5:00 p.m. on the first day of filing, the secretary of state shall determine by random drawing the order in which such candidates’ names shall appear on the ballot. The drawing shall be conducted so that each candidate, or candidate’s representative, may draw a number at random at the time of filing. If a candidate’s representative is used, he/she must have written authorization from the candidate and be willing to show identification documents at the time of filing. |
| Filing Fee: | A receipt of payment of a filing fee of $1,000.00 to the state committee of candidate’s established political party or a statutorily qualifying petition signed by not less than five thousand registered Missouri voters and a sworn statement that the candidate is unable to pay the filing fee. The receipt or the petition together with a sworn statement must be submitted with the written request to be included on the presidential preference primary. |
