Introduction

This collection includes four Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri plat books. The plat books in this collection are held by the Midwest Genealogy Center of the Mid-Continent Public Library. These heavily -used plat books have been digitized to prevent further deterioration and to make them available to a wider audience.

The Collection

Titles in this collection include:

  • A Complete Set of Surveys and Plats of Properties in the city of Kansas City, Missouri: compiled and drawn from official records and actual surveys; published by the author and proprietor, G. M. Hopkins, 1886.
  • Plat Book of Jackson County, Missouri: compiled from county records and actual surveys ; Northwest Publishing Company, 1904.
  • Plat Book of Jackson County, Missouri: compiled from county records and actual surveys; Berry Publishing Company, 1911.
  • Atlas of Kansas City, Mo., and Environs, published by Tuttle-Ayers-Woodward Company, 1925. An index of landowners is included at the front of the book.

Public and private property shown on these maps is not considered a full or legally accurate representation of ownership but, rather, is a general picture of deed ownership at the date of the publication.

Generally, parcels of land that are 5 acres or more are labeled with the owner's name.
