Background
-
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 40,026 incidents of domestic violence in the year 2006 alone. 36,818 cases were reported in 2005.
-
The Safe at Home address confidentiality program provides survivors of sexual assault, rape, stalking and domestic violence a substitute mailing address through the Secretary of State’s office. The Secretary of State’s office will forward participants’ first class mail, certified mail and court documents to help keep their location confidential.
-
In addition, it allows participants to use the substitute address on their government records and public filings, keeping assailants from using current government documents to locate their victims.
The Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program is administered by the Missouri Secretary of State’s office. For more information, please call (866) 509-1409 or e-mail SafeAtHome@sos.mo.gov.
