Kander Reminds Nonprofits of August 31 Deadline
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander today reminded Missouri nonprofit organizations that their registration reports are due to be filed in his office by August 31, 2013.
Nonprofits have the option to file a biennial (every two years) registration report, and may do so online or through paper. Nonprofits are encouraged to file online in order to benefit from a reduced fee and streamlined process.
Filing the report online, as well as printing a report for paper filing, are available on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.mo.gov in the business section.
State law requires the assessment of a $5 fee if a registration report is not received by the Secretary of State's Office by August 31. In addition, failure to file the registration report by November 30, 2013, will result in the organization being administratively dissolved under Missouri law. Nonprofit corporations that have filed articles of incorporation in 2013 are not required to file an annual report until August 31, 2014.
Organizations and businesses may contact the corporations division of the secretary of state’s office toll-free at 866-223-6535 with any questions.
