Kander Alerts Missourians To Phony Securities Websites
Jefferson City, Missouri – Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander today issued an Investor Alert warning Missourians to be on the lookout for phony websites pretending to be the official website for the Missouri Securities Division. These websites seek a payment in order to receive restitution payments.
"My office does not ask Missourians to pay money to receive the reimbursements we obtain for them," Kander said. "If anyone does ask you to do this, please call my office immediately because it is a scam."
While the Securities Division has not seen any fake Missouri Securities Division websites in the past few years, a website has recently appeared – cds-il.org – that calls itself the Chicago Division of Securities. The website falsely claims to provide information from both the Illinois Division of Securities and the SEC’s Chicago bureau.
