MoDOT Transportation Library
A Unique Partnership
As part of a joint agreement between the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Missouri State Library, Reference Services hosts the MoDOT Library. A collection of over 12,500 print and digital items, this resource provides research assistance to transportation employees, researchers, and the public.

State Research
Recently published Missouri transportation research is available on the MoDOT website in the Innovation and Market Research Libraries. The Innovation Library focuses on core engineering and technical topics while the Market Research Library emphasizes public opinion, customer satisfaction, and quality assessment.
Available Resources
Supplementing the State Library’s collection, MoDOT has provided several major resources for use. These include:
- ASCE Research Library
A comprehensive online tool for locating articles of interest across all disciplines of civil engineering.
- Custom Search
A custom Google search tool that limits returns to U.S. state departments of transportation.
- TRID Database
A public-domain, web-based version of the Transportation Research International Documentation (TRID) bibliographic database.
- TRT Thesaurus
An online thesaurus that can be used to improve the indexing and retrieval of transportation information.
- RiP Database
A database hosted by the Transportation Research Board containing over 12,100 current or recently completed transportation research projects.
Contact Information and Library Services
Customized literature searches and requests for item loans from other libraries are offered to state and MoDOT employees. Additional support for and training on transportation databases can also be arranged as-needed. All services are available largely due to the support of MoDOT’s Department of Construction and Materials.
