Civil War Archives Alive! will bring Missouri history to life
for your fourth & fifth grade students.

Come travel back to the 1860s and experience how the Civil War affected civilians and soldiers alike in Missouri. Students will gain a greater understanding of the Civil War, Missouri’s role as a border state, the impact of guerilla fighting on ordinary people, the role slavery played in the state’s culture and economy and famous Civil War personalities and battles in Missouri. Famous Missourians — such as Dred Scott, General Sterling Price, Ulysses S. Grant, James Milton Turner, Jesse James, Adaline Couzins, “Bloody Bill” Anderson and many more — will be discussed.
These 40-minute performances, sponsored by the Friends of the Missouri State Archives with donations from Hawthorn Bank and the Eldon DAR, will take place at the Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City, just minutes from the Capitol. Performances and tours are free of charge.
